A Commission for Rosemary Cooley

An original artwork entitled “Paso Valiente” was commissioned by local artist Rosemary Cooley to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center in Easton MD.

An original Monoprint Collage was given to the top donor of the Gala evening, while a limited edition of 40 archival prints was given to other donors and honorary guests, including Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, Aruna Miller, sho spoke at the event.

Paso Valiente tells of the bravery needed for people who choose to leave their familiar culture for a new land, and often the resulting loss of identity, family, friends and the warmth of their music, art, cuisine and history.

The pull of a better life prompts these people, and those who come to the Chesapeake area where they are fortunate to find support for settling and gaining visas through this center.
