Member Guidelines

I. Financial Information

  • Initial Fee: The non-refundable initial fee is $300. Members cannot hang work until the initial fee is paid. If new members wish to be included on our web page, they must pay a one-time fee of $65 for the initial uploading and connecting with artlineplus.com.
  • Memberships available:
    A. Committee work & gallery sitting: $100/month
    B. Gallery sitting, no committee work: $125/month
    C. No Gallery sitting, no committee work: $150/month
    D. Associate Membership (restricted): $60/month
  • Commission: The Gallery commission from the sale of each print is 40%. Each artist sets his/her own sales' price.

II. Artwork

  • Only professionally presented work will be hung. Acid-free materials, well-executed single mats in neutral tones, and un-scratched frames are basic requirements.
  • One large print (under 9 square feet) or two small prints (16" x 14" max) may be presented for monthly hanging. The Presentation/Hanging Committee makes the final decision on whether a piece is hung based on space availability and professional quality. Members must present a small print if a large print was hung the previous month.
  • Members are entitled to the following number of prints in the Gallery:
    • Bins: 12 foamcore-backed, shrink-wrapped, archivally presented prints with the Gallery's Certificate of Authenticity and price affixed to the back
    • Flat Files: 17 prints in a portfolio (provided by the Gallery), with acid-free glassine paper between each print and a typed price list in the Gallery price book
    • One archivally framed print each month hung on the wall
  • All bin and flat file work must be replaced every six months and must be in pristine condition.
  • Members are encouraged to show 12 new prints each year. Alternate states of the same print are acceptable. Older work may be shown if it has not already been shown in the Gallery. Works from one-person shows may be shown again, but only once in a 12-month period.
  • If there is evidence of a lack of serious productivity or new printmaking, members may be requested by the Board or the Hanging Committee to submit their portfolios for review.

III. One-Person Shows

  • Each member may expect to have an individual show every 2-3 years. Each artist must have been a member for one year, and must be in good standing financially with the Gallery.

IV. Training

  • A Training Day in the Gallery for new members will be scheduled by the sponsoring artist member and/or the Gallery Director.

V. Gallery Bio-Books

  • Each member will put together a bio-book for the Gallery. This three-ring, white binder should include news articles, invitations, snapshots, awards, accolades, and pertinent review and exhibition materials, as well as several resumes and other handouts for interested clients.
  • Sponsoring members or the Gallery Director will provide further information on what to include in the bio-books.

VI. Other Gallery Policies

  • "A" members ($100/month) are required to serve on at least one committee and gallery sit four times a year.
  • Former members who have resigned from the Gallery may return to the Gallery through the portfolio review process.
  • Former members who have requested a Leave of Absence may be welcomed back into the Gallery without the jurying process.
