Bob Burgess

A former White House Staff Photographer, Bob Burgess built a distinguished career documenting politics and culture, with work featured in Time magazine’s “Pictures of the Year” (1981). From 1981 to 2020, he completed assignments for major publications including Time, Newsweek, and The Washington Post. His photographs are held in the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and the Walter Mondale Vice Presidential Library, and he contributed as a still photographer to Ken Burns’ documentaries The Civil War, The Capitol, and Jazz.

Bob is also the author of Finding Paris (2010) and has exhibited widely in juried and solo shows, including at the Washington Printmakers Gallery and the Open Shutter Gallery in Colorado. A member of the White House News Photographers Association since 1981, his work is included in collections such as Getty Images, and he continues to exhibit nationally.
