An artistic journey rooted in freedom and experimentation through quick sketching, abstract painting, collage, and mixed media. Participants are encouraged to respond intuitively, embracing process, imperfection, and discovery.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will:
Develop confidence in intuitive and spontaneous art-making
Explore a variety of materials and techniques in mixed media
Understand layering, texture, and composition through experimentation
Release perfectionism and engage fully with process and discovery
Create a small body of expressive, process-based work
Course Format
Guided demonstrations and prompt
Individual studio work and experimentation
Group discussions and optional critiques
Reflection through observation and making
Age Group: 12 and up

Supplies: a $20 fee payable directly to Instructor
Provided supplies:
Sketchbook or loose drawing paper
Acrylic paints, inks, and oil pastels
Brushes, palette knives, and found tools
Collage materials (magazines, printed images, personal ephemera)
Mixed media supports (paper, cardboard, wood panels, fabric, etc.)
About Sarah
Sarah studied fine arts at the renowned art school in Paris, France (Ècole Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Paris), and Graphic Design at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). She’s an accomplished artist, designer and educator. Through art, she gives form to her innermost feelings and unspoken thoughts. Sarah has been teaching adults and children for more than a decade, encouraging a free-spirited approach to creating from the unconscious.
