Collaborative Collage with Jan Zastrow

Tuesday, July 15, from 1:30 - 4:00 P.M.

  1. Come join us for an afternoon of art-making "improv" as we work together on group collages.
De-stress, get inspired, release inhibitions, and make friends while creating a new piece of art suitable for framing (or at least for the fridge)... this is FUN art, not fine art!

Based on a game invented by French Surrealists called "Exquisite Corpse," this technique invites each artist to add to the composition in sequence so that elements are collectively assembled--and what we end up with is a surprise!

After introductions, we'll start with a warm-up and then move on to shared art-making: laying down the background, adding compositional elements--text, magazine cutouts, even your own photos. We'll add textural layers for interest and a finishing flourish to our "masterpieces"! Each participant will choose one work to take home.
