Origami (paper-folding) is the Japanese traditional art still practiced in Japan commonly. Explore using Origami for your artwork! Naoko Kamioka, originally from Japan and an Origami Instructor shows an example. First, she teaches how to do Japanese sumi ink marbling on Japanese rice paper. Then she instructs folding of some Origami figures to paste on the cards. The cards generate the Japanese ambience of tranquility and refinement. I imagine this combination of sumi marbling and origami is unprecedented.

About Naoko

Naoko is an Origami Instructor and Educator. She has been teaching origami in DMV for several years including at art centers, schools (including colleges), children’s summer peace camps, etc. Also, she has been asked to set up an origami booth at Kamala Harris’ residence when she was VP, the Japanese Ambassador’s residence, and numerous festivals such as Cherryblossom festivals in DC and Maryland. As Educator, her origami teaching is learner-centered which accommodates each learner’s skills, learning style and pace, and interest as much as possible. She values interaction between her and the participants and among participants. She tries her best to make classes a joyful and meaningful learning experience.
