Intro to Frame Making in the Apartment Setting with William Demaria (Session Two)

On Tuesdays from February 27 to March 26, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M.

Budget Frames cost $200-$300 and High Quality frames cost $400-$800. For any artist, framing is always a pervasive problem and sometimes a crippling cost. Fortunately, with a little bit of knowledge and the right tools and materials, it doesn’t have to be you can build the highest possible quality frame for approximately $40. This class will cover everything from basic woodworking with hand tools to cutting glass and archival matting artwork. By the end of the 5 week session, you will have a complete frame and all of the knowledge you need to make your own frames going forward.

About William:

William Demaria currently lives in Baltimore Maryland and sustain himself off of selling his artwork in New York City. He lives in a 2 bedroom apartment. He does not have a woodshop with expensive power tools and fancy dust collectors and has neighbors who he has to worry about keeping noise to a minimum. With just have a couple of hand tools over the past year he has made approximately 30 frames saving roughly $12,000. If he hadn’t learned how to make his own frames, he struggle to see how he could support himself as an artist and he feela that knowledge in framing, even if you don’t intend on making frames from scratch, is essential for any artist.
