Watercolor Expressions: Technique & Creative Exploration with Kenzy Tawfiq - 6 Sessions

Mondays and Wednesdays, September 8 – September 22. 2025
11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

This 3-week workshop is designed to introduce participants to essential watercolor techniques while encouraging creative exploration through portraits, figures, and still life painting. Starting with the foundations of washes, layering, and color mixing, students will build confidence and skill through guided practice. As the course progresses, each participant will create expressive works from their own perspective using visual references—developing a personal style while applying technique.

Syllabus:

Week 1 – Watercolor Foundations

  • Introduction to materials

  • Washes, wet-on-wet & wet-on-dry techniques

  • Layering and transparency

  • Still life practice

Week 2 – Portraits from Your Perspective

  • Facial structure and feature

  • Expressive color choices and brushwork

  • Begin personal portrait project

Week 3 – Figures & Composition

  • Gesture and posture in watercolor

  • Creative use of negative space

  • Final compositions: combine figure/still life/portrait

Kenzy is a visual artist , fine arts researcher and instructor from Alexandria, Egypt, and holds a bachelor's degree from Alexandria University school of Art. Kenzy specializes in watercolor, acrylic, and marker-based works and has exhibited works locally and internationally.
