Short Stories

by Ron Meick

Opening Reception: Saturday, November 1: 1:00-4:00 pm

These works are derived from personal narratives which have associations intended to intersect with individual and collective experiences. These stories/prints have elements of the familiar, but also implications of meaning that use metaphor rather than direct representation. Many invite the viewer to find meaning or question this present time of political or cultural changes.

Aside from the history of printmaking in a political and historical context, the choice of printmaking is intentional. The imprint is a simple action to directly express an experience in both an immediate way and be a protracted process that leads to discovery. It is a relevant medium that provides a bridge between individual memory and the means to communicate a shared meaning. The integration of the physical and technical aspects of the printmaking process is a means to bring substance to these stories/prints.
