Matina Marki Tillman Elected to the Society of American Graphic Artists
WPG is pleased to announce that artist member Matina Marki Tillman has been elected to the Society of American Graphic Artists (SAGA). SAGA is one of the oldest printmaking organizations in the United States founded in 1915 as the Brooklyn Society of Etchers. SAGA has been actively supporting printmakers and printmaking for over 100 years!
Two of Tillman’s prints are included in SAGA’s upcoming national miniature print exhibition, the fourth annual “Mini Gems” juried by Georgia Küng. “Mini Gems” will be on view Saturdays from December 6th, 2025 to January 10th, 2026 at 32 Union Square East in New York City. An opening reception will be held on December 6th from 2-5 pm.
Installation of three Music Listeners
Two miniatures from Tillman’s Music Listeners trio, numbers 1 (center), and 3 (far right), will be on display in the “Mini Gems” exhibition. They come from the ongoing series “art givers and receivers,” where art is being observed by both sides. These small etchings present every-day scenes in the life of music lovers, lit theatrically in order to accentuate how art can take hold of its enthusiasts. The Music Listeners exist on this stage-like space, created solely by their enchantment with the music. The technique used is charcoal drawing on vellum, etched onto Solarplate and hand-pulled through the etching press.
Everyone is welcome to the “Mini Gems” Opening Reception on Saturday, December 6th 2-5pm. SAGA Gallery is located in New York City at 32 Union Square East (near E. 16th Street), Suite 1214.
