Welcome to WPG! Spotlight on Sarah Barzmehri!
Washington Printmakers Gallery is delighted to welcome Sarah Barzmehri as the newest member of our creative community! Barzmehri brings a wealth of experience as an artist, curator, and educator, enriching our gallery with her dynamic approach to printmaking and design.
About the Artist
Barzmehri studied Fine Arts at École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and earned a degree in Graphic Design from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Her work reflects a deep appreciation for color, texture, and spontaneity, often drawing inspiration from abstract expressionism and the atmospheric qualities of artists like Mark Rothko. She has taught adults and children for more than a decade, fostering creativity through hands-on workshops and collaborative projects.
Barzmehri has been making an impact at WPG where she has offered a suite of workshops for several years. Exploring expressive techniques using acrylic paint on glass and gel plates are one of the ways participants develop their voice and skills in printmaking with Barzmehri. Her workshops emphasize experimentation and the joy of unexpected outcomes, making them ideal for beginners and seasoned artists alike. It’s not too late to take (or gift) a workshop with Barzmehri. In December alone she offers Monoprint/Gel Printing and Mixed Media Collage,
