Then & Now
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 6, 3:00 - 6:00 pm
Closing Reception: Sunday, September 28, 2:00 - 4:00 pm
Washington Printmakers Gallery proudly marks its 40th anniversary as the only gallery in Washington, DC devoted exclusively to hand-pulled and digital prints, as well as fine art photography. Over four decades, WPG has endured six relocations, a financial crisis, and a global pandemic—all while building a strong, resilient community of artists. Themed group shows have continually reflected that spirit of perseverance. WPG has also led international exchanges with artists from Buenos Aires, Shanghai, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and South Africa, and initiated the National Small Works Show, helping to launch the careers of emerging printmakers.
Now housed in a beautiful space supported by the Washington Print Foundation, WPG has expanded its mission with the creation of the Georgetown Studio School, offering a full range of classes and workshops. As we reflect on our journey and look to a vibrant future, the anniversary exhibition “Then & Now” highlights this evolution—gallery artists will each present two works: one from their past and one recent piece, celebrating how change revitalizes the artistic process.
We invite you to toast this milestone with us on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 3:00–6:00 p.m. Enjoy refreshments in our gallery, explore the dedicated print studio and secret garden courtyard, and meet founding and current members who will share the many ways printmaking continues to inspire. Don’t miss the chance to take home an original work from our small prints collection and discover what makes WPG a vital part of DC’s creative landscape.
