Whimsy Workshop with Bridget Murphy

Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Whimsy! Explore monotype printing to create your whimsical artwork. We will print freeform monotypes and combine materials to create chine collé, collage, hand-painted prints and/or notecards. Tme to be free and whimsical. Students will work on their own during the course. No experience necessary.

• Printmaking paper • Thin textured or colored papers or collage materials • Plexi plates, ink, tools, etc.

  • Student need to bring: • Personal, copyright free images to inspire you; • Thin textured or colored papers or collage materials (optional); • Items you want to explore using (sponge, stamps, etc.) • Standard size mailing envelopes (so notecards can be sized to envelope); • Creative and playful ideas.

About Bridget

Bridget Murphy is a member of Columbia Pike Artist Studios and Discover Graphics Atelier in Virginia. She is a Professor Emeritus in the Graphic and Media Design program at MarymountUniversity. Bridget is involved in the creative process through printmaking, painting, designing, drawing, and teaching. She is an award-winning artist, designer, and educator. In 2024, she exhibited in a group show, ‘Standing Wild’ at the Arts Club of Washington. Her work is represented at Gallery 75, Alexandria, VA and Red Fish Gallery, Irvington, VA. Her artwork is shown regionally and nationally. Bridget earned an MFA in painting and communication design from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Rochester, NY and a BFA degree at Saint Mary’ College, Notre Dame, IN. Bridget grew up in Washington, D.C. and lives in Alexandria, VA
